  THE "DA POMPA" TUREEN In the Deruta's ceramics' tradition we indicate with the name "da pompa" all the pieces made for special or big events that could be, in example, the wedding between components of rich, powerful and noble families; the main peculiarity of these pieces is represented by the portraits painted on the pieces; in the photo below you can see one "DA POMPA" piece with also "grottesche and raffaellesche" painted all around. GORGEOUS !!!    THE RAFFAELLESCO TUREEN (Large Size) The Classic Raffaellesco pattern on the tureen with masks on th sides: beautiful !!!  THE RAFFAELLESCO TUREENS (SMALL SIZE) On the following two small size tureens the Raffaellesco looks always great even with less details because of the smaller space available to be decorated. Type A  Type B  THE "DA POMPA" HANDLED LARGE CUP In the photos below you can see the front and the back, completely decorated, of one large cup with double flat handles; on the front, the portrait of a nobleman and on the back two raffaellesche with double masks: wonderful !!! Front  Back  THE RAFFAELLESCO "VERSATOIO" The following large "versatoio" (container used to keep and serve water) with double flat handle over bas-relief masks, is beautifully decorated with "grottesche" and "mascherone" (mask) Front view  3/4 Side view  |
