THE FUSERUOLE
The Fuseruole or Fusaiole ("whorls" in English) are one of the most original and typical productions of the Deruta's tradition.
Known since Etruscan and Roman era, in ancient times, whorls (ceramic balls in majolica entirely made and painted by hand) were used as weights for looms, and during the Renaissance period they
were offered as gifts, “a token and promise of one’s love”. Moreover, their surfaces bore inscriptions of mythological, Roman, biblical and Christian names
alluding to personal qualities and virtues. During the Centuries they have been used as decorations and weights in the corners of pillows, fabrics or embroideries.
Today they are used as necklace pendants, earrings, bracelets, cufflinks, as weights for your curtains' wires and they can be mounted in Silver or Gold.
Please, choose from the window menu on the left the "fuseruola" you like.
